Hello everyone,
Its been a while since I posted. I came back to Ireland mid May to do some speaking for the church here and tell them about the work in Zambia. I was due to go back to Zambia at the beginning of August.
Unfortunately in my second week in Ireland I was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast with pancreatitis. I was in Intensive care for 3 weeks, another 3 weeks in a surgical ward and then I was moved to the City Hospital for another 3 weeks. It was quite a traumatic time as I went from being what I considered relatively healthy and fit one day to the next day being in ICU. After I got out of hospital I spent 9 weeks with my brother and sister in law recuperating. I was still not 100% but moved into an apartment in Belfast at the end of September where I have continued to build up my strength as I await another medical procedure.
I am so thankful to God that I was in Ireland during this time. I am so very thankful to the Consultants, doctors, nurses, auxillary staff, physiotherapists and all the other staff in both the RVH and City hospitals...honestly the care I received was amazing. Also the extended church family worldwide were incredible - I was being prayed for all over the world (and still am), I received messages of hope and beautiful cards and gifts. My family are awesome, especially my younger sister. They visited me in hospital and my brother took me in when I got out of hospital and could hardly walk I was so weak. It is going to be a long road to full recovery but I couldn't have done it without all the people who were with me on the journey.
I have been able to walk a bit more as my strength is gradually improving. I take photos now and again which gives me joy. I am starting to do some work virtually which is quite challenging but at least I can encourage the teachers and the Synod from afar!
I hope to return to Zambia sometime in 2023 when my body has recovered from the ordeal that it has been through. I may post from time to time which I am in Ireland. Here are a few photos I have taken since I got out of hospital! Enjoy.
Blessings,
Diane
